Faster diagramming: NodeFlow keyboard shortcuts
Most of what you do in a diagram editor is repetitive: add a shape, name it, connect it, move it. A handful of shortcuts removes most of the mouse work. Press ? in the editor to see the full list.
Adding and connecting
- A: search for an item by name and add it where the pointer is. Type "decision", "database" or "loop" and press Enter.
- Ctrl+Enter: add a connected shape below the selected one, ready to type in.
- Ctrl+Shift+Enter: add a sibling shape beside the selected one, connected to the same parent.
- K: connect from the keyboard. Press it on the first shape, move to another and press it again.
- Dragging a new connection into empty space: opens the same search, adds the item there and connects it.
Typing in shapes
- Enter on a selected shape: start typing in it.
- Enter while typing: confirm the text.
- Shift+Enter while typing: start a new line.
Selecting and arranging
- Ctrl+A: select everything. Shift+click adds to the selection and Shift+drag selects an area.
- Arrow keys: nudge the selection by one pixel, or by ten with Shift.
- Tab: move keyboard focus to the next element.
- Ctrl+G and Ctrl+Shift+G: group and ungroup.
- Ctrl+D: duplicate. Ctrl+X, Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V cut, copy and paste.
Searching and undoing
- Ctrl+F: find text across the diagram, with replace and match options.
- Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y: undo and redo.
- Esc: put the tool down and deselect.
- Ctrl+S: download the diagram file. Ctrl+O: open one.
